FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — Firefighters on Monday were letting an old chicken coop burn at a family farm in Fuquay-Varina.
The fire was reported before 3:30 a.m. on Cokesbury Road, south of U.S. Highway 42.
Fire crews were monitoring the flames at an abandoned chicken coop that caught fire. The cause of the fire was not provided.
Flames were still burning at 7 a.m., and firefighters told WRAL News letting the empty structure burn will prevent the fire from spreading to a nearby building filled with hay, which the farm is currently using.
No people or chickens were believed to be injured.
