RALEIGH, N.C. — No injuries were reported in a fire at a Raleigh restaurant early Friday morning that shut down a portion of Western Boulevard.
Firefighters battled flames that shot through the roof of Sushi Nine at 3812 Western Blvd. around 5 a.m. as heavy smoke covered the street. Officials closed the outbound lanes of Western Boulevard near Gorman Street, but the road opened to traffic shortly after 7 a.m.

Raleigh Fire Battalion Chief Kevin Coppage said the call came in just after 4 a.m., and it took an hour and a half to control the fire. Power lines made it difficult for firefighters to get the crane up, Coppage said.

The drive-through lane of the Bojangles' next door was closed as a result of the fire, but all other businesses in the area were not affected.

Crews will be on scene until at least 9 a.m.
