RALEIGH, N.C. — A mall official said Saturday that Macy's at Crabtree Valley Mall will be closed until further notice after a fire broke out in the department store Friday afternoon, prompting an evacuation of several stores in the upscale shopping center.
A fire at Macy's at Raleigh’s Crabtree Valley Mall prompted the evacuation of stores between the food court and Macy's Friday afternoon, mall officials said.

An employee at the mall's information desk told WRAL News Saturday that the store will remain closed. It was not immediately clear how much damage was done inside the store, and officials have not publicly confirmed how the fire started.

Mall officials said the fire started on a second-floor fitting room at about 5:40 p.m., and was quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported.

One person who was at the mall said he saw security officers running upstairs to the department store as a fire alarm went off.

It was not clear what started the fire, but mall officials said that Macy's would likely be closed for the rest of the night.

The rest of the mall reopened to the public.
