A fiery crash closed Interstate-95 South near Rocky Mount Thursday.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A fiery crash closed Interstate-95 South in southern Nash County on Thursday.

Before 7 a.m., the entire southbound direction was closed near Exit 127 for N.C. Highway 97. Sky 5 video showed heavy backups and a large car carrier with fire damage. WRAL was working to learn if there were any injuries.

A viewer told WRAL that black smoke filled the air at one point.

By 8 a.m., most lanes had reopened, but some delays remained.
