FEMA grants $3M in Hurricane Florence aid to New Hanover Co. Schools
The hurricane that tore through the Carolinas in August and September of 2018 -- Hurricane Florence -- left lasting damage on New Hanover County schools.
Posted — UpdatedThe state and the Federal Emergency Management Agency is granting New Hanover County Schools more than $3 million more in reimbursements for hurricane-related expenses.
The schools had initial damage and had to make quick repairs in order to reopen the schools, according to a press release.
The New Hanover County schools also had to remove mold from many of their facilities after the hurricane and flooding, the release said.
FEMA has given more than $5 million to New Hanover County Schools for Hurricane Florence-related expenses.
