Feds Repay Counties for Jailed Illegal Immigrants

Communities across North Carolina have received more than $4 million from the federal government as reimbursement for housing illegal immigrants in their jails.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Communities across North Carolina have received more than $4 million from the federal government as reimbursement for housing illegal immigrants in their jails.

The government approved about 800 applications for reimbursement, including $268,000 to Wake County, $127,000 to Durham County, $44,000 to Orange County and $37,000 to Johnston County.
