ARLINGTON, TEXAS — Police have asked the FBI to participate in the death of a Texas college football player, who was fatally shot by an officer during a burglary call at a car dealership.

Arlington police officer Brad Miller, who is white, is on administrative leave after the early Friday shooting of 19-year-old Christian Taylor, who is black.

During a news conference Saturday night, Police Chief Will Johnson said a special FBI agent in charge of the Dallas field office would take part in the investigation.

He stressed it "in no way diminishes my confidence in the Arlington police department's ability" to launch a thorough investigation.
