FORT BRAGG — Fort Bragg and FBI officials are investigating the recent death of a 3-year-old.

Early Monday morning, the child was treated at the Womack Army Medical Center Emergency Room for injuries allegedly sustained from falling down stairs following a seizure at the child's home on post, according to Col. Billy Buckner, chief of public affairs for Fort Bragg.

The child was transported via life-flight to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill for further treatment. Doctors there accessed that the injuries were inconsistent with falling down stairs, Buckner said.

The hospital notified the Fort Bragg Provost Marshall's Office. Social Services and CID were also contacted.

The child died at UNC Hospital on Tuesday, Buckner said.
