Fayetteville, N.C. — A Fayetteville woman was killed early Sunday when she was struck by a car while lying on Tabor Church Road
The Fayetteville Observer reports the crash happened at 1:35 a.m. five miles south of Fayetteville at Ranchvale Drive and the entrance to the Mill Run neighborhood.
A group of friends who attended a party in the area were waiting on a ride, the report said. One of them, Alyssa C. King, 21, walked onto Tabor Church Road and laid down.
The group, which included King’s sister, got her off the road, but she did it again. Her friends got her out of the road, but King walked away from the group and again laid down in the road, Sgt. K.N. Thomas said.
King’s sister was running toward her, along the side of the road, when a car came by, the report said, running over King. The driver stopped, but then left the scene, the report said.
The only description given for the vehicle was a light-colored car.
No debris from the car was left behind, Thomas said, because King was lying down when she was struck.
