Fayetteville woman charged with embezzling thousands of dollars

On Friday, Ivy Monique Wright, 51, of Fayetteville was charged with embezzling thousands of dollars from her employer.

She allegedly embezzled $17,805.36 from the National Association of E.E. Smith Alumni and Friends from December 15, 2021, through July 14, 2022.

On Tuesday Wright turned herself in with her attorney at the Cumberland County Detention Center.

According to its website, the National Association of E.E. Smith Alumni and Friends is an association to "promote and serve the interests of the E.E. Smith High School, it's alumni, former students and friends of the School."

Wright is scheduled to make her first court appearance on Wednesday.
