FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville Technical Community College instructor was charged Monday with having child pornography on his work computer.

Stephen Joseph Spear, 61, of Fulford McMillan Road in Raeford, was charged with 18 counts each of second- and third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He was released on a $180,000 bond.

Spear, a speech communication instructor at Fayetteville Tech, had images of girls as young as 7 in sexually explicit poses, authorities said.

Authorities didn't disclose how they found the images.

Fayetteville Tech spokesman Brent Michaels declined to say whether Spear is still employed at the school. Fayetteville Tech has policies against using its computers for creating, displaying or sending pornography, he said.
