Fayetteville police upgrade charges in shooting
Fayetteville police have charged a man in connection with a fatal weekend shooting.

Officers responded early Sunday to 517 Odom Drive in reference to a shooting. They found Joshua Lane with a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, where he later died, police say.
Another victim, Thomas Ferguson, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg while driving away from the residence, police say.
Ruben James Garcia, 23, was arrested at the scene. Garcia was initially charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill. However, the charges have since been upgraded to second-degree murder, police say.
Garcia was being held Wednesday in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $50,000 bond.
