FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Two people were killed in a crash Friday night in Fayetteville, police said.

The crash happened at the intersection of County Club Drive and Lakecrest Drive around 8:30 p.m.

Authorities said a Mazda vehicle was turning left onto Lakecrest Drive when it collided a Dodge truck going straight on Country Club Drive.

The Mazda's driver, 47-year-old David Junior Burnette, and the passenger, Cynthia Tanner, were pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

The driver of the Dodge was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities said a preliminary investigation determined Burnette was at fault.
