Fayetteville police seek suspect in double homicide

Fayetteville police on Saturday issued arrest warrants for Mario Jacquez Boykin, 20, in connection with a double homicide at Watauga Manor Apartments on Tuesday.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police on Saturday issued arrest warrants for Mario Jacquez Boykin, 20, in connection with a double homicide at Watauga Manor Apartments on Tuesday.

Boykin will face charges including two counts of first degree murder. He is also being charged with first degree burglary, robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy.

Boykin is wanted in connection with the deaths of Joe "Hawk" Hawkins and his 26-year-old son, Alexis Hawkins, who were found in their apartment at 5008-D Watauga Road on Tuesday.

Police believe Boykin may be driving or be a passenger in a blue Chevrolet Tahoe.

Boykin, who is described as 5-foot-6 and 135 pounds, is considered armed and dangerous and may be in the company of other individuals associated with this crime.

Detectives are asking that anyone with information on the whereabouts of Boykin to call Crime Stoppers at 483-8477 or the Fayetteville Police Department Homicide Unit at 433-1871.
