Fayetteville, N.C. — Fayetteville police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man wanted for attempted first-degree murder in a shooting Wednesday.
Police said Friday they are searching for 26-year-old Jessie Lee Grooms Jr., who is also charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill.
Police responded to an emergency call Wednesday night from a Citgo at the intersection of Gillespie Street and Campbell Avenue and found 39-year-old Michael Blue had been shot. Investigators determined Blue was shot while in the 200 block of Nimocks Avenue and sought safety inside the convenience store.
He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he was in stable condition Friday.
Anyone with information about Grooms is asked to call detectives at 910-916-7491 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477. Crime Stoppers pays cash for information leading to an arrest, and callers may remain confidential.
