Fayetteville police search for hit-and-run driver that left one dead, one injured

Fayetteville police said two people were struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident on Thursday. One of the two has died.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police are searching for the hit-and-run driver that struck two pedestrians on Thursday, leaving one dead and one injured.

Titius C. Patterson, 24, was killed, and Michael T. Speas, 24, suffered non-life-threatening injuries when they were hit by a burgundy sedan on Murchison Road near Country Club Road at about 7:30 p.m., police said. The car left the area afterward, police said.

Police cars and forensics vans were still investigating the scene early Friday morning.

All outbound lanes on Murchison Road were closed at Country Club Drive for more than two hours.
