Fayetteville police say January shooting death now a homicide investigation

Fayetteville police are now investigating a January shooting as a homicide after it was determined that the victim, who died in February, passed as a result of the shooting.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police are now investigating a January shooting as a homicide after it was determined that the victim, who died in February, passed as a result of the shooting.

Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit said the victim, Marcus Bridges, 35, died on Feb. 11. He was shot in an incident that happened in front of the Phat Daddy's Sports Bar and Grill at 3406 Raeford Road in Fayetteville on Jan. 30. The shooting happened just after midnight.

A medical examiner has since determined the cause of death to be related to the shooting.
