Fayetteville police probe shooting

Fayetteville police were investigating the shooting of a man in the 5000 block of Gavin Street Saturday evening.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police were investigating the shooting of a man in the 5000 block of Gavin Street Saturday evening.

Officers were dispatched after a 911 caller reported the shooting around 6:20 p.m. Before officers arrived, someone picked up the victim and took him to the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, police said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was in critical condition Sunday afternoon.

Police have not commented on a motive or any leads in the shooting.
