Fayetteville police make arrest in bouncer's fatal shooting

Fayetteville police have made an arrest in a shooting that killed one man and injured another on July 12.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police have made an arrest in a shooting that killed one man and injured another on July 12.

Avery Dennill Peterson, 25, of 3957 Rosehill Road, was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with the first degree murder of Christopher Clark, 27, of 2570 Cumberland Creek Road, as well as the attempted first degree murder of Dominic Tearry, 24. 

Police said their investigation revealed Clark, a club bouncer, was shot while in the parking lot of the Tallywood Shopping Center with a bullet that was intended for Tearry. Tearry, a club patron, received a minor wound to his lower leg.

Peterson was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.
