FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.EDITOR'S NOTE: On Feb. 8, 2023, Dominic Antoine Blackmon, 32, of the 800 block Seventy First School Road was arrested and charged with second-degree rape, forcible sex offense, second-degree kidnapping, assault by strangulation and breaking and entering. Fayetteville police tell WRAL News that his arrest was linked to a woman captured on a doorbell camera asking for help.

Fayetteville Police are investigating a chilling video involving a woman knocking on a door for help as a car approached her Monday morning.

In the video, which was captured on a home's doorbell camera footage, the woman can be seen running up to the porch crying out for help just before 4 a.m. Monday.

Seconds later, a silver car approached the woman, who appeared to only have on a coat and no shoes. The woman then runs off the porch as the recording stops.

A few people in the area had questions about what they saw.

"Why is she out here like this?" said Deborah Green, a resident in the area. "Who is after her?"

Quinton Smith, a resident that also saw the video, said if he were in that situation, he would've opened the door.

"Look at the video," Smith said. "You think people can fake emotions? She's pointing at the car, 'something is wrong [and] I need help right now.'"

According to a woman claiming to be the woman's sister on Facebook, the woman is currently safe and the suspect has been arrested.

WRAL News asked Fayetteville Police for a report of the incident.

Tim Shipman, a security expert with The Shipman Group, LLC, said regardless of the situation, the last thing you want to do in that situation is open the door.

"You don't want to open the door and expose yourself or family," Shipman said. "Quite frankly, there are times when someone will use that as a ploy to get into your home."

Shipman said the best plan is to keep your door locked, keep your family safe and call 911 immediately.
