FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Fayetteville Police Department is investigating a suspicious death after a woman was found dead Monday.

Nena Renae Mollison, 49, was found dead in her home on Murchison Road after several people reported her missing.

Officers said there were no signs of forced entry, but the way her personal belongings were left inside the home makes investigators suspicious about her death.

Mollison was known to people in the community as Miss Nena.

Her neighbors said she used a walker to make her way up and down Murchison Road. They became concerned when they hadn't seen her in several weeks.

Wendell Dove owns a car wash a couple of blocks from Mollison's home. He says he knew her and was surprised to her of her death.

“I was shocked,” he said. She doesn’t mess with anybody, you know? She just was not that type of person.”

Investigators searched for fingerprints on the home’s door handle and gathered other evidence from inside the house

The State Medical Examiner will determine the cause of Mollison's death.

Police are asking for any information that could help investigators.

Anyone with information about Mollison’s death can call Detective J. Arnold at 910-824-9539, Sgt. Bohannon at 910-759-9473 or Fayetteville/Cumberland County Crimestoppers at 910-483-TIPS (8477).
