Bragg Pawn Shop employee shot while locking up Fayetteville store

A 63-year-old man was shot while he was locking up a business Saturday night, according to Fayetteville police.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A 63-year-old man was shot while he was locking up a business Saturday night, according to Fayetteville police.

Ronald Ruple, an employee at Bragg Pawn Shop at 5034 Yadkin Road, was leaving the store before 8:30 p.m. when he was shot in an attempted robbery.

Investigators said Ruple saw a man running towards him from a wooded area nearby. The suspect fired a gun, striking Ruple in the leg. Police said Ruple pulled out his own gun and fired at the suspect, who fled into the woods.

Ruple was transported to the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition.

Police are looking for the suspect, who is described as a black male in his late 20s standing between 6 feet 1 inch tall and 6 feet 3 inches tall. Ruple said the suspect has a skinny build with a curly afro hair style. He was last seen wearing a dark hoodie, jeans and green and white tennis shoes.
