Fayetteville police: Boy with autism reunited with parents

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Update: Hayden "Hay Hay" Marroquin has been located and is okay.

Officers with the Fayetteville Police Department were searching for 11-year-old Hayden Marroquin early Sunday morning.

Marroquin, who has autism, was last seen at 11 p.m. on Saturday when he went to bed at his home in the 1000 block of Patrick Drive. He was spotted in Hoke County late Sunday morning by an "attentive citizen," police later said.

The boy, who can't speak and only mumbles, is okay and is being reunited with his parents, police said.

Marroquin is described as a Hispanic male who stands 5 feet 3 inches and weighs about 100 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray shirt and gray shorts and glasses. He responds to the nickname “Hay-Hay.”
