Fayetteville, N.C. — Fayetteville police on Tuesday added two more incidents to a list of recent violent carjackings they believe are connected.
Police investigators have used forensics to connect bullets and other evidence in the crimes, but they have yet to identify a suspect or suspects.
On Nov. 7, a vehicle was stolen in the 100 block of Weatherstone Drive. That vehicle has since been recovered.
On Nov. 9, a blue 2017 Toyota Corolla was stolen from the 6200 block of Carver Oaks Drive. That car, with North Carolina license plate EME-6144, is still missing.
Police linked the two recent crimes to others earlier over the past two weeks.
On Nov. 3, a pizza delivery driver was robbed at gunpoint while trying to make a delivery.
On Oct. 29, a 23-year-old man was shot by carjackers in the parking lot an apartment complex on Regency Drive, even though he complied and gave the suspects the keys to his Hyundai Sonata.
On Oct. 27, a 25-year-old woman was shot in the leg outside her apartment on Dornock Drive.
On Oct. 20, a 16-year-old was carjacked outside his home on Evanston Street.
"We've noticed a trend here where we've had folks robbed and shot. We've had four people injured as a result of gunshot wounds," said Maj. Robert Spatorico of Fayetteville Police.
“We want the community to stay vigilant," said Fayetteville Police Chief Gina Hawkins.
Police suggested locals should park in well-lit areas, especially where surveillance cameras could catch the scene around them.
Hawkins asked that anyone who has any information related to these violent crimes contact the Fayetteville Police Department at (910) 433-1529 or call anonymously at (910) 483-TIPS (8477).
