Fayetteville man surrenders on theft charge

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A theft suspect turned himself in Thursday to detectives with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office..

Calem Reese Madden, 22, of 6017 Dahlgreen Ave., told deputies he could not stand the media exposure, a spokeswoman said.

Madden is charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen property and obtaining property by false pretense.

Investigators said Madden broke into a home at 201 East Hudson St. between June 21-22. He is accused of stealing a television, a DVD player, digital converter box and assorted food products.
