— The body of a Fayetteville man who went missing while swimming in the Albemarle Sound on Saturday was recovered Tuesday, Tyrrell County Sheriff Darryl Liverman said.

A commercial fisherman found the body of Dubray Marantae Damon Gause, 24, in the Bull Bay area of Tyrrell County. Gause was swimming off a boat and disappeared underwater around 8:30 p.m.

The sheriff's office, emergency management team, state Marine Patrol, N.C. Wildlife Commission and the U.S. Coast Guard searched for Gause Saturday, but they suspended the search without finding him.
