Fayetteville man facing at least 20 years in prison after feds say he stored guns in daycare center
A Fayetteville man was found guilty on Tuesday of storing eight loaded firearms and drugs at a local daycare center he owned.
Posted — UpdatedReshod Jamar Everett, 36, is facing at least 20 years in prison after authorities accused him of trafficking drugs and hiding dangerous weapons inside the in-home daycare center, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Federal agents seized drugs — cocaine, marijuana, THC and the painkiller tramadol, — cash and the eight guns from Everett's property. Some of the guns were high-powered rifles, according to the DOJ.
In federal court, a witness said that one of the rifles, a PS90, was "powerful enough to pierce body armor."
Investigators initially began looking into Everett after a traffic stop in 2018. They stopped co-defendant Alvin Milton Davis while he was leaving the apartment complex with drugs and weapons in his car. After stopping Davis, investigators obtained a search warrant for Everett's home, and that's when they found the weapons, the DOJ newsrelease said.
“Armed drug trafficking poses a significant danger to the community, particularly when loaded guns and drugs are stored at an in-home daycare,” said Michael Easley, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina in a statement.
