Fayetteville man faces murder charge in toddler's death

Fayetteville police arrested a man Monday on a charge of first-degree murder in connection with the death last week of a 23-month-old toddler.

Jabrenne-Keirre Kayshon Carter, 20, of the 5800 block of Aftonshire Drive, was also charged with felony child abuse in the death of Tylee Fields.

The child was taken to a local hospital on Oct. 7 and died of his injuries two days later.

Police said that a medical examiner's report found that the injuries occurred while in Carter's care.

Carter lived with the child's mother, police said, but he is not related to the child.
