FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office has charged a Fayetteville man with shooting his wife in the foot during an argument at their home.

Police say William Nicholas Hogue, 55, shot his wife in the foot with a shotgun after they got into a fight on the way home from a bar. When the couple entered their home, Hogue threatened his wife, Robin, before pulling the trigger.

Hogue is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond. He is being charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to inflict serious injury.

Hogue's wife sustained a serious injury to her left foot and had surgery. She remains at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
