Fayetteville man charged with first-degree murder after birthday party shooting

A man faces multiple charges in the shooting of three people at a birthday celebration, one of which who died, according to Fayetteville police.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man faces multiple charges in the shooting of three people at a birthday celebration, one of which who died, according to Fayetteville police.

On Oct. 16, officers responded to the 300 block of Gillespie Street just before 10 p.m. where they found two men and one woman with multiple gunshot wounds.

Darrion Tyler, 18, from Fayetteville, was shot multiple times and died in the hospital. Jocephus Jones III, 18, from Parkton, and Destiny Bradford, 22, were both transported to the hopsital for their gunshot wounds. Both Jones and Bradford are expected to recover.

Police believe that the shooting spurred from an argument at the party.

Jamese Herring was charged with Voluntary Manslaughter in connection with the shooting death of Darrion Tyler

Officials arrested Jamese Herring, 21, who lived on Gillespie Street, on charges of voluntary manslaughter.

The charges were later upgraded to first-degree muder in the shooting death of Taylor. He is also charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury for shooting Jones and Bradford.

Herring was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under no bond.
