Fayetteville woman held under $1M bond in human trafficking case

A second person was arrested Tuesday in connection with a human trafficking investigation at a Fayetteville motel.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A second person was arrested Tuesday in connection with a human trafficking investigation at a Fayetteville motel, the city said Wednesday.

Merianda K. Gray, 25, of the 600 block of Walker Street, was charged with two counts of first-degree forcible sex offense, two counts of first-degree kidnapping, second-degree kidnapping and two counts of aiding and abetting a robbery, according to a city of Fayetteville press release.

James Calvin McEachern Jr., 32, of South Eastern Boulevard, was arrested in connection with the investigation last week and charged with two counts of forcible sex offense, kidnapping and robbery with a dangerous weapon, according to a Feb. 11 statement. He was also charged with aiding and abetting an armed robbery.

McEachern and Gray were arrested as part of an ongoing investigating with Fayetteville Police and the U.S. Marshals Task Force.

Gray was being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under $1 million secured bond.
