FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Cumberland County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a Fayetteville man accused of abusing an 8-week-old pit bull puppy.

Cory Lashan Price, 26, of 2210 Caramel Drive, was arguing with his girlfriend when she told him to leave, according to deputies. Price then grabbed their pit bull puppy as he walked out the door, tossed it in the air and impaled it in the side with a knife, authorities said.

Animal Control Investigators said they found the puppy hiding in the backyard, badly injured. The puppy was taken to Southern Oaks Animal Hospital in Hope Mills and was euthanized because of its extensive injuries.

Anyone who knows of Price’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office at 910-323-1500 or the anonymous TIPSLINE at 484-TIPS (8477).

Price is 5 feet 9 inches tall and has several tattoos on his body, including a drawing of Superman on his right arm.
