Fayetteville dentist gives out free services to fellow veterans
A local dentist will thank veterans in his own special way on Thursday.
Posted — UpdatedReefer told WRAL News one patient he'll see on Thursday has been waiting years to get his teeth fixed after cracking his jaw while serving.
Reefer worked at Fort Bragg's Walter Reed Medical Hospital as a paratrooper dentist and served in the Army for more than 23 years.
"I witnessed the compassionate care provided to our nation’s heroes,” Reefer said. “Ever since then, I’ve tried to emulate that level of care and compassion for all of my patients, especially my fellow veterans. It’s our way to honor them for their dedication and service to our country."
“This means a lot to me,” said one veteran who will receive implants to secure his dentures on Veterans Day. “Being able to eat without my teeth falling out is something I’m looking forward to. This is something we couldn’t afford, and we can’t even express our appreciation enough for what he is doing."
