Fayetteville businesses set to enter Phase 2 of re-opening

Now, with the city set to enter the state's second phase of re-opening the economy, Luigi's will be opening its dining room Friday afternoon at half capacity.

They've built up a new take-out crowd, but eating in is the heart and soul of the restaurant.

The owners say for the past two months they've been scrambling to make ends meet. They laid off most of the staff, just keeping a handful on board to handle the take-out service.

Tonight's opening comes with many restrictions. Hand sanitizing stations are everywhere, and tables are being rearranged to comply with social distancing requirements.

"With respect to disinfecting, sanitizing, how we are managing customers from outside to get them inside," said the co-owner, Nick Parrous.

The owners says even though he's only allowed to have 50 percent occupancy, he's having to hire back all of his staff and then some because of all the restrictions.

Barber shops, nail and hair salons are also allowed to re-open beginning at five.

Michael's Hair Salon is ready to open. Owner Marva Moore has seven stylists who are eager to get ready back to work.

"Well, there are a lot of people running around saying 'Hey, I need to get my hair done,' not used to being able to go without getting their hair done," she said. "They're looking forward to making these appointments. They're coming in to get their hair done."
