FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Fayetteville Regional Airport was closed for about an hour after a plane had an issue landing Friday evening.

WRAL's Rosalia Fodera reports the nose gear of a Piper PA28 collapsed as it landed on Runway 4 at Fayetteville Regional Airport around 6:30 p.m. Friday. The FAA said in a statement the plane was towed to the ramp area at the airport.

There was only one person, the pilot, in the plane. They were not injured.

Flights were delayed during that time before they could eventually land. One person Fodera spoke with said their plane had to circle the runway and was eventually sent back to Charlotte to board another plane before eventually flying back to Fayetteville.

The FAA said it will investigate the incident further.
