FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police are searching for a 46-year-old man wanted on 20 fraud-related charges.

Richard Straw, of 426 Vida Circle in Fayetteville, obtained debit cards and blank checks from a single victim, Fayetteville police said in a release. Straw is accused of using the cards and checks to obtain cash to support a drug habit.

Authorities said Straw recently purchases $1,000 worth of cocaine to use in a suicide attempt. After his attempt failed, Straw was admitted to Cape Fear Valley Behavioral Health Center for evaluation. He was released Thursday.

Anyone coming into contact with Straw is advised to use extreme caution as he is considered a danger to himself and others.
