The kids are finally back in school, and I must say, it’s not a moment too soon.

We had a very nice Christmas and the added bonus of playing in the snow. But these last few days, boredom crept in, and well, let’s just say the return of classes is a welcomed event.

But the last couple of weeks has led me to ponder what I’ll be doing this summer.

My son is starting kindergarten next year, and I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to paying my last preschool tuition this May. Since my daughter will already be home this summer, I figured I would keep my son at home as well.

But I still have to work. And the kids still need stuff to do. And oh boy, if I thought the last two weeks were tough, what will I do for three months this summer???

Sure, there are camps. But the one camp my daughter enjoyed the last two summers is now deemed “too babyish.” When I’ve pointed out to her that she will be bored and will want activities to do, my daughter usually replies “I’ll just play at home”.

Yeah. The novelty of that will wear off in about two days.

I suppose I could get some sort of help, perhaps a mother’s helper to play with the kids and keep them somewhat entertained.

And I’m sure they would leave me alone to work, right? RIGHT???

So, with the Christmas decorations barely back in their boxes, my mind is already turning to the summer months. I’m researching camps, looking for babysitters and asking friends for ideas. Have a suggestion? By all means, please pass it along.

The winter weather has me longing for June. But the uncertainty of what the summer holds has me thinking January is just fine.
