Fayette-Mom: Fingers crossed for best summer yet

This time of year brings out such mixed emotions.

I’m happy and relieved that the school year is coming to a close, yet I realize the amount of work that lies ahead.

For example:

I’m thrilled that I can stop packing lunches, that is, until I realize that I still have to make the lunches every day. The only difference --- they can complain right to my face.

I’m so looking forward to going to the pool, except — someone has to wash the endless pile of towels that go along with swimming.

I can’t wait to sleep in in the mornings, only — it’s on the days we don’t have to be anywhere that my kids wake up the earliest.

Say goodbye to the daily homework battles! Say hello to struggling to get your kids to do enrichment activities so their brains won’t turn to mush!

Summer means we get to spend quality time together. By the end of June, I’m counting down the days to the new school year.

Really, it’s not all that bad. We’ve got some fun things planned, and with a positive attitude, I know this summer is going to be one of the best yet!

Let’s just hope I don’t have to remind my kids hourly what a positive attitude is …..
