RALEIGH, N.C. — The father of the driver charged in the Raleigh Christmas Parade crash that killed an 11-year-old girl is facing a gun charge.

Christopher Glass, 49, of Goode, Va., is charged with bringing a firearm in a parade, court records show. He does not face any charges related to the crash.

Christopher Glass' son, Landen Glass, is charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, careless and reckless, improper equipment, unsafe movement and carrying a firearm in a parade.

Landen Glass was released on bond and will have his first court date on Jan. 26.

Hailey Brooks, 11, was dancing in the Nov. 19 parade with CC & Company Dance Complex. She was struck and killed by an out-of-control pickup truck driven by Landen Glass that lost its brakes.

Brooks' family issued a statement last week, speaking publicly for the first time since the crash:

“Hailey’s tragic death has left our family heartbroken and in shock. She had a kind and humble heart that was always focused on caring for the needs of those around her. Even in her final hours, Hailey showed her loving and giving spirit to the younger children who were with her in the parade.
“We greatly appreciate the love and support that the community has shown us, and we plan to share more about Hailey’s special life soon. At this time, we ask that the media respect our family’s need for privacy while we grieve the loss of our dear Hailey.”

WRAL News learned Brooks was the oldest of three siblings.

The director of Carolina Charter Academy said Brooks was a fourth-grade student there last year. It is not clear what school she was attending this year.

WRAL News also learned Brooks used to dance at Main Street Studio in Fuquay-Varina. A post shows she loved steak, and her favorite style of dance was clogging.

This is a developing story. WRAL News is working to learn more information.
