The weather is getting warmer and farm fields are bursting with fresh produce as farmers' markets across the region open for business.

Use this list of farmers markets in North Carolina to find local fruits, vegetables, meats, baked goods, plants, crafts and more in your area while getting out of the house and enjoying the fresh air.

Farmers markets in North Carolina

There are so many farmers markets in North Carolina, from the large State Farmers Market in Raleigh to markets in Cary, Apex, Fuquay-Varina, Wendell, Durham, Chapel Hill and more.

Wake County farmers' markets

The State Farmers' Market at 1201 Agriculture St., Raleigh, is the biggest market in the area. It is also open seven days a week and year round. The best selection, according to its website, for retail shoppers is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Moore Square Market at 200 S. Blount St. in downtown Raleigh is open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Sunday from May 1 through Oct. 3 (excluding July).

The Cary Downtown Farmers' Market is open rain or shine on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until noon. You can also find activities for kids, live music and other events.

Phillips Farms Farmers Market in Cary opens April 2 and will be open each Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Apex Farmers' Market is currently operating on a winter schedule. Beginning April 16, the Apex Farmers' Market will operate weekly on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until noon through Nov. 19.

The Midtown Farmers' Market is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon, April 16 through Nov. 5, at North Hills in Raleigh.

Raleigh City Farm hosts a pay-what-you-can farmstand from April to November for the community. Locations include Raleigh City Farm, 800 North Blount St., Wednesdays, 4 to 7 p.m., and The Salvation Army, 902 Wake Forest Road, Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The Wake Forest Farmers' Market, at 235 S. Taylor St., is currently operating on winter hours. Beginning April 2, it will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

The Western Wake Farmers' Market at 280 Town Hall Dr., Morrisville, is open Saturdays year-round. Regular season is April-November, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., and winter season is December through March, 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Holly Springs Farmers Market at 300 West Ballentine St. is open from 8 a.m. until noon every Saturday.

The Fuquay-Varina Growers Market is held Saturdays from 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. between April 16 and Sept. 10 at 121 N. Main St. in the Fuquay Varina Chamber of Commerce parking lot.

The Wendell Market will be held on Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. at Campen Row on May 5, June 2, Sept. 1, Oct. 6 and Nov. 3.

The Zebulon Artisan Market has a new name but will still feature local produce in addition to crafts and art. The market will be held every Saturday between April 23 and June 25 (10 markets total) from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Zebulon Municipal complex, located at 1003 North Arendell Avenue.

Downtown Rolesville Farmers Market - Held at 302 S. Main Street, this market is held Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Durham County farmers' markets

The Durham Farmers' Market at Durham Central Park will be open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon beginning April 2. Prior to April, the market opens at 10 a.m.

The South Durham Farmers' Market at 5410 N.C. Highway 55 is open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon, year-round, rain or shine.

The Durham Roots Farmers' Market opens May 29 at 1901 Hillandale Road is touted as the only farmers market with 100% Durham farmers and Durham watershed farmers.

The Black Farmers' Market supports and protects Black farmers and entrepreneurs. Markets are held every second Sunday of the month in Durham at the Golden Belt Campus from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and every fourth Sunday of the month in Raleigh at the Southeast Raleigh YMCA from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Orange County farmers' markets

The Chapel Hill Farmers' Market is open all year at University Place, located at 201 S. Estes Drive, Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

The Carrboro Farmers' Market is open Saturdays from 7 a.m. to noon and Wednesdays from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.

The Eno River Farmers' Market in Hillsborough is open on Saturdays year round. April through November, the market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon.

Outside of the Triangle

The Fearrington Farmers' Market is in Fearrington Village, right off 15-501, halfway between Chapel Hill and Pittsboro. The market is open every Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. March to November and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. during the winter.

Chatham Mills Farmers' Market, located at Historic Chatham Mills in downtown Pittsboro, opens April 2 and will run Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. through October. In November, the market is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Clayton Farm & Community Market is held every Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Horne Square, at the corner of Main Street and Lombard Street.

Murchison Road Community Farmers Market - The market is held weekly on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1047 Murchison Road in Fayetteville.

Pittsboro Farmers' Market - Open Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. ar 287 East Street, the Pittsboro Farmer’s Market is open year round with select items.
