SANTA MARIA, CALIF. — A farm that was tied to a E. coli outbreak in romaine lettuce earlier this month is now recalling cauliflower sold in North Carolina.

The affected products include red leaf lettuce, green leaf lettuce and cauliflower that contain the label Adam Bros. Only the cauliflower was sold in North Carolina.

The produce was harvested between Nov. 27 and Nov. 30 and may be contaminated with E. coli bacteria.

None of the recalled product has tested positive for E. coli, according to a statement from Adam Bros. Farming, and no illnesses have been reported. Adam Bros. Farming, Inc. and the FDA are recalling the products as a precaution.

According to the statement, the recall was initiated after sediment from a reservoir near where the produce was grown tested positive for E. coli.

Filtered and treated water from the reservoir may have come in contact with the produce after it was harvested.

E. coli can cause a diarrheal illness in most healthy adults, but some people, including children and senior citizens, can develop a form of kidney failure called Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome. Consumers who have purchased any of the referenced product are urged to return it to the place of purchase or destroy it. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-805-925-0339
