N.C. State is opening its doors this week starting Wednesday for its popular Farm Animal Days.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m Wednesday through Friday at the Lake Wheeler Road Field Laboratory just south of Raleigh. The event gives kids a chance to see and touch farm animals and learn about agriculture.

It's designed for school field trips for preschoolers through first graders. Registration has closed for large groups. But families and small groups are welcome to attend.

The best times to go to beat the crowd are at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. It takes about an hour to see all the exhibits.
