Raleigh police arrested a teenager on Wednesday in connection to the death of a 13-year-old girl earlier in the week. According to the Raleigh Police Department, Mykia Daniel, an eighth-grader at Ligon Middle School, was shot and killed on Monday in a north Raleigh Apartment. Police said the investigation is ongoing and more information will be released at the appropriate time.

The Amber Alert was issued for Riley Bockes last Wednesday after her mother, Deanna 'Missy' Michelle Bockes was found dead inside a home in Sanford.

The family of a woman Sanford police said was killed by her husband on Wednesday are devastated by what happened, and even more devastated that they can't get their granddaughter home.

Family: Murdered Sanford mother was 'full of love'

Hours later, Riley's father and Deanna's husband, Brent James Bockes, crashed his vehicle near Murfreesboro, Tenn., and ran with his child, but he was captured and she was taken to safety.

Winter weather prevented Riley Bockes from being released to her older sister until Monday following a hearing in juvenile court.

"They had about three inches of snow, but I don't understand why they can't just let [Erica] bring [Riley] home. She needs to be with her family right now — both of them do," Deanna Bocke's mother, Cheryl Brown, told WRAL News on Thursday.

He's currently charged with first-degree murder, robbery, larceny of a motor vehicle and being a fugitive from justice.
