SANFORD, N.C. — A 3-year-old who was at the subject of an Amber Alert last week was reunited with family on Monday, according to the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office in Tennessee.

The Amber Alert was issued for Riley Bockes last Wednesday after her mother, Deanna 'Missy' Michelle Bockes was found dead inside a home in Sanford.

Hours later, Riley's father and Deanna's husband, Brent James Bockes, crashed his vehicle near Murfreesboro, Tenn., and ran with his child, but he was captured and she was taken to safety.

Winter weather prevented Riley Bockes from being released to her older sister until Monday following a hearing in juvenile court.

"They had about three inches of snow, but I don't understand why they can't just let [Erica] bring [Riley] home. She needs to be with her family right now — both of them do," Deanna Bocke's mother, Cheryl Brown, told WRAL News on Thursday.

Brent Bockes remained at Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. He's currently charged with first-degree murder, robbery, larceny of a motor vehicle and being a fugitive from justice.
