CLINTON, N.C. — Sampson County Sheriff Jimmy Thornton told WRAL News that a body was found on Boykin Bridge Road in Clinton on Monday.

The state medical examiner is working to confirm if the body is that of missing Sampson County woman Kiara Williams Wiggins. Thorton could not confirm the body found was hers at this time.

While Wiggins’ family posted on their GoFundMe that they have "received confirmation that the body found on Boykin Bridge Road in Clinton, NC was that of Kiara Williams Wiggins," Thornton was not ready to say that.

"We’re asking that you keep the family in your prayers during this difficult time," the family wrote on their GoFundMe page.

Kiara Wiggins, 38, was last seen on June 9 in her home in Roseboro, which she shared with her husband, Carl Wiggins.

He was arrested on June 23 after a police chase that stretched through several counties. Authorities say he was uncooperative and did not answer any questions posed by police.

Jackie Williams believes the body found is certainly that of her sister.

“They don’t know for sure but they have a high possibility that’s my sister because of a tattoo on her forearm," she said. "She was the kindest, sweetest girl you would ever meet.”

Wiggins' mother, Lora Beamon, says she's anxious regarding the discovery and just wants the ordeal to be over.

“My heart is heavy," she said. "I’m nervous and I just want to know, 'why ... why do you want to do something like that?'”

“She didn’t deserve nothing at all like this,” Williams added. “It makes me feel really good just bringing her home and putting her at peace.”
