LITTLETON, N.C. — Autopsy results on Monday were pending for three family members who were found dead in their quiet, one-story Halifax County home during a weekend welfare check.

Charles Davis, 76, his wife, Gladys, 75, and their grandson, Antonio Mills, 41, were found Saturday in the residence located in the 100 block of Kirkland Street in Littleton. Relatives and neighbors had requested law enforcement authorities to check in on the family after they had not been seen for several days.

People who know the family are all perplexed as to what possibly could've led to their deaths. On Monday, yellow crime scene tape will still visible at the family's residence.

Investigators have not released a cause of death, but said there is no threat to the public.

"They told me a long time ago that if one of them goes, all of them want to go," said Henry Sledge Jr., the younger brother of Gladys Davis.

Relatives said the family was a close-knit bunch, and the Davis couple was inseparable.

The couple had raised Mills since his birth, relatives said.

"Everywhere they went, they went together," said the couple's sister-in-law said. "They went shopping together. When they got up and left, they all three went together."

Investigators have not released many details about the cause of deaths.

"We don't know how long they had been in there like that," the in-law relative said. "For three days, the car just sat in the yard and they didn't go nowhere."

Mills worked at a Walmart in Roanoke Rapids, stocking store shelves. Co-workers said he had worked there for 15 years.

They said before his body was found he had not reported to work for a few days.

Anyone with information on the case was asked to call Littleton police at 252-586-3413.
