Good morning. I'm meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner. We are in the middle of some scattered storms this morning. Uh, be on the lookout for heavy rain, strong gusty winds and frequent lightning. We do have a level two risk for severe storms. Today is going to be a really good day to turn on the TV, because we're tracking these storms in real time for you. Ken Smith is on TV, telling you where you want to avoid where we're seeing some accidents out on some wet streets. Today, we are looking at a level one for tomorrow for our southern counties. So the system continues. Our best chance for severe storms is up to around nine or 10 o'clock this morning, damaging winds and hail would be our biggest threat. It looks like a better tornado threat would be down into South Carolina. This covers the entire viewing area today. You can see the history of this boy that we had lines of thunderstorms, tornadoes coming through parts of Tennessee and into the deep south. Fortunately, lot of that dove south overnight last night, but we're definitely seeing our share of some heavy rain and some stronger winds. This is a look at the last 24 hours of storm reports. Lots of tornado reports back across parts of the west and for our viewing area we've seen in the gray dots, that's where we've seen wind damage and the blue circles are where we've seen some hail. So we're likely to see more damage reports as we get through the day today. Here's a look at Futurecast. Get through 678 o'clock. Most of the heaviest rain will be in our southern counties and then we see a break. We might see another round of storms that comes through around lunchtime or early afternoon. But for the bulk of the afternoon, we're looking at cloudy skies, but the best chance of storms definitely the first half of the day check off Friday though Friday may be fairly active. We start to see some showers and thunderstorms before lunchtime in our southern counties and then into the afternoon and evening ahead of that. So it really looks like it's going to be potentially a fairly active day for us on Friday Ice this afternoon or in the mid to upper eighties, it's going to be sticky and steamy out there this afternoon. We're going to stay humid for today and tomorrow and then after that, the humidity drops off nicely. We're still looking at an absolutely beautiful Mother's Day weekend, 70 or Saturday and Sunday and mostly sunny skies, fairly dry with low humidity. Perfect for moms
