11-year-old boy in custody, accused of manslaughter in shooting death of Jenesis Dockery

The 11-year-old boy is in custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit Detectives on Friday detained an 11-year-old boy accused of shooting and killing Jenesis Dockery.

The boy is in custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Dockery died on July 27 at the age of 8. She was shot on July 25.

Civil rights lawyer Harry Daniels said he visited Fayetteville on Thursday to seek justice for Jenesis. Daniels and family members of Jenesis Dockery held a news conference Thursday afternoon outside the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office to discuss the circumstances of the shooting death.
