A former Harnett County deputy who admits she killed her husband will not spend time behind bars.
Stephanie Poythress pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter. Authorities said she stabbed her husband, Cecil, in the heart after an argument in September. Poythress contacted 911 after the incident.
Poythress died on his way to a hospital.
As part of a plea deal, the judge gave her a suspended sentence and ordered her to serve 2-1/2 years probation. Poythress must also pay a $750 fine.
