Ex-boyfriend charged in Durham woman's slaying
Police said Monday that the former boyfriend of a Durham woman found slain in her apartment last week has been charged in her death.

Crystal Gigliotti, 21, was found dead in a pool of blood by her mother early Wednesday in an apartment in the Stonewood Apartment Homes complex, at 4524 Newby Drive.
Silvestre Alvarad Chaves, 25, of Liberty Street, was charged with murder in the case. He was arrested last Wednesday in Memphis, Tenn., on unrelated charges and has been in jail there since then, Durham police said.
Police haven't disclosed how Gigliotti died.
Chaves isn't the father of Gigliotti's 3-year-old son, who was found unharmed in the apartment, police said.
Gigliotti's mother said in a 911 call that she and her husband received a "weird call" from her daughter's former boyfriend, prompting her to go to the apartment, where she found Gigliotti.
