CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Providence Day School quarterback Jadyn Davis is not only one of the top football players in North Carolina from the Class of 2024, he's one of the top players in the nation.

247Sports.com ranks the five-star quarterback as the No. 1 player in North Carolina and the No. 2 quarterback nationally. It's why nearly every college program in the country would like to see him in their uniform in 2024.

HighSchoolOT football analyst T.J. Thorpe sat down with two former ACC quarterbacks and Charlotte high school football alums — Duke's Anthony Boone and UNC's Marquise Williams — to breakdown Davis' film. They all are impressed with the skill set of Davis.

"Everything he does is smooth. They way he carries himself, the way he operates in situations that seem somewhat chaotic. He just always looks like he's calm, collected," Boone said.

Boone has had a lot of time with Davis. He has spent time training him in the Charlotte area.

"The dude is so smooth. The quietest feet ever when he's in the pocket. He doesn't get rattled, he's just so cool and calm," said Williams.

As a junior, the 6-foot-1 Davis completed 221-of-305 passes for 3,425 yards and 43 touchdowns, leading Providence Day to the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association Division I state championship.

Boone has trained with other highly-touted Charlotte-area quarterbacks, like Sam Howell and Drake Maye, but he says it's important for all quarterbacks — including Davis — to be themselves and not try to be someone else. He said Davis can move and throw on the run, but he wouldn't call him a dual-threat quarterback, such as Kyler Murray.

"He has the ability to move. He's one of those guys that's always looking to distribute the rock, so I think that's one thing that's great about him," Boone said. "He has the ability to be two moves ahead in the pocket, as far as being elusive, but remain with his eyes down the field and still be on time in seeing windows, and I think that's a hard thing to do."

Williams said watching his film shows Davis is a smart player too. He said Davis makes good decisions with the ball and understands the defense.

"Pre-snap coverage, he already knows what he's going to do with the football. He knows man coverage, zone coverage, where the blitz comes from," Williams said.

Davis was named the Gatorade North Carolina Player of the Year, is a member of the HSOT All-State Team, and is a HSOT Honors finalist for the Offensive Player of the Year in football.
